When I lived there, the castle wasn't a cool bed and breakfast place. Someone actually lived there. I think. We never saw an actual human there. The closest we saw to a life form was a car that would sometimes be parked out front. July 11, 2007 The castle was originally being built as a private home, but the man building it got ahead of himself financially and I believe the unfinished property was put up for auction. My goodness, it is amazing how many things we miss out on in our day-to-day lives! Like a classic convertible that only gets cooler with age, the Peery Hotel is Salt Lake City's vintage masterpiece. Armstrong Mansion Bed and Breakfast
History buffs will be taken by this restored historic house. The Armstrong Mansion was constructed in 1893 by the two-term Mayor of Salt Lake City Francis Armstrong and his wife Isabel. "Home is my heaven on earth. Heaven will be home and family … or it won't be heaven," Armstrong said. The Queen Anne-style home was one of the first three residences in Salt Lake City to have running water. The B&B attracts celebrating couples and guests looking for an authentic historic experience. The Cliff Lodge at Snowbird
The Cliff Lodge helped put Salt Lake City on the map as an outdoor mecca in 1988 when it hosted the first Rock Climbing World Cup to be held in the US. The climbing holds have been removed, but the Cliff Lodge remains an impressive landmark, with its 11-storey- high open lobby and stunning rooftop pool. Located near the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, about 30 mintues by car from downtown, the Cliff Lodge is surrounded by some of the most impressive mountains in Utah. Massive glass panel windows dominate the lodge's south-facing walls that look out on to Snowbird's ski slopes. There's also a spa and six restaurants. Inn on the Hill
The Inn on the Hill was once the home of one of Utah's powerful elite. The imposing red brick home is on the south slope of Capitol Hill between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) headquarters and the Utah State Capitol. The building was bought and restored by Philip McCarthey, the former publisher of the Salt Lake Tribune, in 2003 and opened as a bed and breakfast the next year. The Castle Creek Inn
Would you forgive me for doing a post that has nothing to do with running?
Oh, good. I'm glad we can still be friends. Last week we got to spend a night at the Castle Creek Inn in Sandy, Utah. They didn't pay me for this review.
Staying here was particularly awesome to me because I grew up two houses away from the castle.
When I lived there, the castle wasn't a cool bed and breakfast place. Someone actually lived there. I think. We never saw an actual human there. The closest we saw to a life form was a car that would sometimes be parked out front. I was interested to see the back of the castle without fearing that I would be shot.
Now each room of the castle has a slightly different theme but they all looked nice. We had fun staying up late, watching movies, and eating unhealthy amounts of Cadbury Eggs.
It was freezing cold outside when I was taking pictures. This was my view from the sidewalk as a car drove by:

William John Calder and Corianne Lifferth will be married July 7, 2005, in the Bountiful LDS Temple. A reception will be held that evening at the Castle Creek Inn, 7391 South Creek Road, Sandy.
Corianne is the daughter of Bill and Diane Lifferth. She graduated from Woods Cross High School and will graduate from the University of Utah in the Spring of 2006. She served in the Germany Frankfurt Mission.
William John is the son of Lynn and Sallie Calder. He graduated from Alta High School and attends UVSC. He served in the Canada Halifax Mission.
Following a honeymoon to Colorado the couple will make their home in Sandy.
The dream of the Castle Creek Inn began in 1995, when we began searching for the ideal location for a unique Bed & Breakfast Inn. After months of looking at various options throughout Utah, we came to realize that the perfect option was practically in our own back yard. Just a few miles from home we found the partially built Castle just waiting for a couple with imagination and determination to turn it into a great Salt Lake City inn.
Since that time, we have transformed it into one of the most unique and enchanting retreats in Utah and it is a Salt Lake City inn like no other. Even though the Castle is close to Salt Lake City, it has the bonus of being surrounded by a grove of tall oak trees, complete with river, small streams, and waterfalls – which expands the enjoyment and relaxation of your romantic get-a-way!
All of the guest rooms at our Salt Lake City inn are uniquely designed with a tasteful, elegant Castle theme, and throughout the years we have maintained a continuous process of updating and improving all of our rooms and amenities.
Officially the Castle is in location in the newly incorporated city of Cottonwood Heights, which is adjacent to other established communities of Sandy, Murray, and Midvale. And while it may not be the first inn you find when searching for a retreat near Salt Lake, we believe it is the best. Many of our thousands of guests come multiple times each year. We thank them and we think our guests are the best as well!
We have a wonderful staff that is cheerful and always willing to help – and they would love to help you.
